Land Acknowledgment
My home and practice are situated on the stolen territory of Huchiun, the land of the Ohlone, now known as the East Bay (which includes Berkeley and Oakland), California. Indigenous communities here have survived centuries of violence and oppression, from Spanish, Mexican, and American colonization, to polices of genocide and extermination, as well as ongoing racism and systemic oppression. I offer my gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples for stewarding these lands for generations, particularly the Muwekma Ohlone people, who continue to thrive as vital members of Bay Area communities today.
It is my personal commitment to continue learning, unlearning, and actively challenging settler colonialism, including working toward decolonizing mental health services. In recognition of the ways I benefit from the genocide waged against the Ohlone and the theft of their land, I pay an annual Shuumi Land Tax to support the healing of these lands and sovereignty of the Ohlone community.
